LINX Companies Launches a Nature Day Camp

January 11, 2022

The LINX Companies (“LINX”), parent company of LINX Camps, launches a new premier day camp for families in the greater Boston area. New England Outdoor Camp — NEOC, for short, and pronounced nē-äk — connects campers to nature with programming that encourages their personal interests.

LINX successfully ran LINX Camps in the summers of 2020 and 2021, and in a way that prevented any COVID-19 outbreaks at camp. The strategies the company used to maintain those safe and healthy experiences gave the year-round leadership team fresh insight into child development, leveraging the outdoor environment for summer education and fun, and the critical roles of independence and confidence in childhood. As a result, the company’s vision for NEOC is a throw-back to vintage summer camps where children explored and played outside at an easy pace and without any technology at all.

NEOC’s campus is the Elm Bank Reservation, an expansive property that includes river-access, trails, forested areas, gardens, and the opportunity for campfires. Camp activities include canoeing, archery, hiking, orienteering, outdoor survival skills, gardening, arts and crafts, music, cooking, games, sports, and wellness. As the camp welcomes campers ages 3 - 15, all of these activities are offered as age appropriate. A camp culture of inclusion and appreciation allows for friendships to blossom and for campers to mentor one another. As campers grow at NEOC, they will be encouraged to wonder about, investigate, and build their understanding of nature.

“No matter how many weeks a camper chooses to spend at NEOC, they will leave with greater confidence in themself and new ideas about how to enjoy and preserve the natural world around them.” said Joe Kahn, LINX owner and founder.

LINX has hired Paula Fahy, a veteran of LINX Camps, Camp Top of the Pines, Camp ABC (NY), and the Paterson Environmental And Cultural Education program, as the NEOC Camp Director. She brings nineteen years’ experience working with children in roles including teacher, camp counselor, assistant camp director, camp staff trainer, crisis center mentor, and social worker. She has developed and launched educational programs in Boston, New York, New Jersey, and Belfast. A strong advocate for empowering children and team members to make positive changes in themselves, the people around them, and their communities, Fahy is the ideal leader for encouraging and broadening the culture LINX envisions for NEOC.

NEOC offers weekly sessions in summer 2022 from June 13th through September 2nd. Camp runs Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm, and can be extended as early as 8:00am or as late as 6:00pm. A bus service is available, which includes a sibling bus discount. Following the LINX pricing philosophy, families always enjoy growing savings when registering for multiple weeks.

Registration for NEOC is now open. Families who register by February 15th will receive Pioneer pricing. The leadership team, which has been actively planning the rich and impactful activities of the camp, is eagerly awaiting the chance to work with campers this coming summer to create the NEOC traditions that will complete the camp’s culture! “Congratulations to LINX for launching NEOC at just the right time,” said Greg Reibman, President of the Charles River Regional Chamber. “Employees working in our region need good, safe, healthy places for their kids this summer so they can get back to their jobs. And I can’t think of a more enticing, versatile, and beautiful location than Elm Bank. My only regret is that I’m too old to attend myself!”

From its start in 2005, LINX set itself apart by offering a unique combination of nurturing and growing the confidence and interests of children in a fun-based environment and being able to rapidly respond and innovate. LINX has been located at 141 Linden Street in Wellesley, MA since its founding, and actively supports local PTAs, school performing arts programs, sports teams, and family-focused groups.
