Jack and Charlie Rotella, and Michael Gareau just finished the third grade and are headed to LINX’s Spy Camp for action-packed missions at Spy Zone, a 10,000-foot state-of-the-art training center located on Linden Street. According to its website, LINX of Wellesley provides fun-based classes and camps specializing in dance, theater, sports, martial arts, science and early childhood programming.

Disney’s The Lion King JR. is playing at The Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick starting on Wednesday, June 14th through Friday June 16th. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film. Each cast contains LINX Theater performers led by LINX Theater Directors Katie Schiering or Todd Morse.

WELLESLEY, MA – March 15 - LINX Dancers of Wellesley took home most of the elite gold awards for solos, duos, trios, small groups and group dances at the Starbound National Talent Competition March 10th and 11th in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. LINX dancers, age 7 to 16 years old, performed 92 dances, winning awards that included 40 elite gold, 4 special judges, 1 audience choice, 5 overall first place finishes, 5 overall first place group dance, and other top ten placements. Additionally, a LINX Elite dancer earned the New York Dance Experience Summer Scholarship Award.

On Dec. 8, Sprague held its 11th annual "Cookie Walk." The fun and festive event drew another huge crowd, with over 400 dozen cookies for sale.

In addition to cookies to buy, "Sprague spirit" items like water bottles were available, plus all sorts of raffle items to win including packages for yoga, karate, a photography session, horse riding lessons, Bruins and Celtics tickets, and a police car ride to school. Students and parents also enjoyed taking selfie photos, seeing historic photos of Wellesley dating back to 1880, and performances by Bach to Rock, LINX dance students, and Big Joe the Storyteller.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ enchants audiences

Wellesley High School’s drama department outdid themselves with the fall musical production, “Beauty and the Beast.” The performance was so professionally done that Walt Disney himself would have been impressed. The culmination of months of work left audiences asking if there were professional actors on stage, and wondering if the music was taped instead of live. With a cast of 70 student actors, singers, and dancers, a 16-piece orchestra, a team of over 40 tech, lighting and props students, costume and make-up helpers, a huge parent volunteer group supported by POPS, Dr. Kevin McDonald, Brian McManimon, Steve Scott and Stephen Wrobleski, the performances did not disappoint the sold-out shows’ audiences. Dazzling costumes, intricate sets, and dramatic lighting brought the enchanted world of Beast, Belle, and all of the enchanted objects to life.

Sprague School holds 10th annual sweet celebration

On Dec. 10, Sprague kicked off the holiday season with its 10th annual Cookie Walk. What started by former Sprague parent Tina Vasconcelles as a small bake sale has blossomed into an elaborate and festive, community-wide tradition. A whopping 600 dozen cookies were baked for the event.
