Invention Convention

Children are natural born inventors, and in the Invention Convention they will receive the guidance and tools they need to bring their ideas, dreams and contraptions to life. Working with the Scientific Method and the Design Process, children suit up in the Science Center Lab and plan, formulate, and build their own inventions (projects include: hovercrafts, robotic junk-bots and life-size catapults)!

Go on a journey with Mr. Steve into the land of Simple Machines, as you make objects roll downhill (Inclined Plane), vehicles drive (Wheel and Axle), catapults launch (Levers), various sharp instruments cut into or split apart materials (Wedge), machines come apart (observing Gears and Screws), and tubes travel UP along a string (Pulley). Along the way, experiment with a variety of science tools and equipment in the Science Center including the Video-Microscope (where the microscopic world comes to life), the Inventors Workshop Supply Shelves (where young engineers have been building all of their contraptions), and the Science-Kit Center (housing a variety of science tools and materials for children to experiment with, including Zome, KNex, Modular Dominoes, Snap-Circuits, Spinning and Rolling Things, and more).
